Profile
Andrea Chomakos is a partner in Parker Poe’s tax group and focuses on estate planning and estate administration matters. Drawing both from her prior work experience at a major public accounting firm and her masters of law in taxation, Ms. Chomakos represents closely-held business owners and high-net worth individuals to execute sophisticated and comprehensive estate and gift tax planning strategies. She also works with clients and their advisors to ensure that planning strategies are successfully achieved.
Ms. Chomakos is a frequent speaker at professional conferences on estate planning and tax issues, as well as life insurance and charitable planning.
Experience Highlights
- Advises clients regarding estate planning matters and works with clients to implement their estate plan
- Represents executors and trustees in estate and trust administration matters, including in adversarial (litigation) matters
- Works with clients on business transactions, including buying and selling businesses, structuring buy-sell agreements and forming joint ventures and other similar transactional projects
- Provides advice and consultation regarding life insurance transactions
- Evaluates income tax issues involving closely held businesses
- Assists clients in forming public charities and private foundations
- Provides guidance to charitable organizations on Internal Revenue Code compliance
- Represents taxpayers in estate and gift tax audits
