Jay Butler has extensive experience with mergers, acquisitions and the creation of joint ventures, including those in which environmental issues have played a prominent role. His clients include domestic and international manufacturing companies, private equity funds and investment companies.

Mr. Butler clerked for the Hon. Sam J. Ervin, III on the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Experience Highlights

• Represented a manufacturing company in a series of add on acquisitions throughout the country and in 2010 represented the company’s private equity owners in a $260 million sale of the company

• Represented a private equity firm in the 2010 acquisitions of portfolio companies in the bakery industry and in the hydraulic equipment industry

• Assisted clients with a wide range of other transactional matters, including the sale of businesses, commercial contracting and the creation of new business ventures in this country as well as in Europe and China

• Advised businesses on issues ranging from environmental considerations in property and stock transactions to the variety of issues that surround Brownfields redevelopment
