Katie Trotter
Special Counsel
Katie Trotter counsels clients on bankruptcy, reorganization and creditors’ rights, with emphasis in the financial services, manufacturing and retail industries.
Prior to joining Parker Poe, Ms. Trotter worked in the financial restructuring group of a law firm in New York. From 2005-2006, she clerked for The Honorable J. Rich Leonard, Chief Judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina in Raleigh.
At Emory University School of Law, Ms. Trotter was a member of the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal Executive Board.
Experience Highlights
Ms. Trotter has experience representing lenders, manufacturers, retailers and other credit providers, including:
- Representing both creditor committees and individual creditors in Chapter 11 cases
- Negotiating and drafting settlement agreements, motions, objections and legal memoranda on behalf of clients
- Negotiating debtor in possession financing
- Drafting and negotiating plan support agreements, first day pleadings, plans of reorganization and disclosure statements
- Negotiating creditor recoveries on behalf of clients
