Profile
Patti Bartis advises clients on employment litigation, employment counseling and commercial litigation. Ms. Bartis is national coordinating counsel for the employment litigation of Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp). She also advises LabCorp on a wide variety of employment issues with respect to its employees throughout the United States.
Before entering law school, Ms. Bartis worked in the area of corporate finance.
While at the University of North Carolina, she was executive editor of the North Carolina Journal of International Law and Commercial Regulation.
Currently, Ms. Bartis is a member of the Parker Poe Diversity Committee.
Experience Highlights
Ms. Bartis works with clients in the following areas:
- Compliance and litigation concerning Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the North Carolina Wage & Hour Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act
- Drafting, interpretation and litigation of employment agreements, covenants not to compete and confidentiality agreements
- Employee professional conduct and other training
- Wrongful discharge actions
- Personnel actions such as hiring, evaluations, discipline and termination
- Preparation and revision of employee handbooks and policy manuals
- Protection of trade secrets actions
