Simpson Fant has represented owners and developers in the development, finance and refinance of over 125 multi-family housing, assisted-living and nursing home projects throughout the Southeast with approximately $1 billion in HUD/FHA insured loans (Section 207,231,232, 221(d)(3 &4) and 223(f) programs). He also represents owners in all aspects of the development, construction and finance of projects utilizing Section 42 low income housing tax credits.

Additionally, Mr. Fant advises clients locating to South Carolina on real estate matters relating to economic development projects including the acquisition or lease of production sites, structuring complex leaseback arrangements with developers, negotiation of construction, architectural and engineering contracts and project financing matters.

While at the University of South Carolina, Mr. Fant was the Student Works Editor of the South Carolina Law Review. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Fant was a municipal bond and government securities trader and a commercial loan officer with a leading South Carolina bank.

Experience Highlights

  • Represented the owner in the portfolio refinance closings of 19 nursing homes located in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia utilizing loans insured under HUD’s 221(a)(7) program
  • Successfully closed more than $200 million in HUD-insured financings in 2011
  • Represented a German company locating in South Caroilna with its $530 million investment in the construction of a manufacturing facility in the South Carolina upstate
