(RALEIGH, N.C.)—Steven B. Long, a Partner in the Raleigh office of Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, was elected to the Alzheimer’s North Carolina Board of Directors. Mr. Long will serve a one-year term beginning July 1, 2012.

Alzheimer’s North Carolina provides family support, community education, public awareness and supports research for the prevention, cure and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.

Mr. Long advises businesses and individuals regarding tax and employee benefits issues. He has extensive experience working with employers in banking, retail, technology and other industries to establish, maintain and correct defects in the operation of tax-qualified retirement plans, executive compensation agreements, stock incentive plans and other employee benefits.
 
Mr. Long also advises charities and other tax-exempt organizations regarding their IRC 403(b) and IRC 457 retirement plans as well as issues related to compliance with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and state regulations affecting executive compensation, fundraising and lobbying activities. In addition, Mr. Long counsels business owners and executives in retirement and estate planning, helping them meet their goals in the most tax-efficient manner.

In addition to his work with Alzheimer's North Carolina, Mr. Long serves on the Board of Directors for the Raleigh Hall of Fame, the John William Pope Civitas Institute and Shepherds Theological Seminary.

Mr. Long received his LLM, Taxation, from Georgetown University, his JD, cum laude, from Georgetown University and his BS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
