David Allen Named Chair of NC State Bar Ethics Committee

(CHARLOTTE, N.C.)—David Allen, a partner in the Charlotte office of Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, has been named Chairman of the North Carolina State Bar Ethics Committee. Mr. Allen will serve a one-year term on the committee, which is  responsible for issuing opinions on rules of professional conduct and guiding lawyers with ethical dilemmas. He previously served as the committee’s Vice-Chair.

As Chairman, Mr. Allen will appoint sub-committees, lead presentations to the State Bar Council and direct committee meetings. He will also work with committee members to maintain a proactive approach in helping lawyers avoid ethical issues.

Mr. Allen represents pharmaceutical and medical device companies, manufacturing and chemical companies, physicians and hospitals as well as corporations in complex business litigation in federal and state courts throughout the region. He was named Charlotte Best Lawyers Lawyer of the Year in Product Liability Litigation - Defendants for 2012. Additionally, he has been named to Woodward/White’s The Best Lawyers in America and Business North Carolina magazine’s “Legal Elite” since 2005, and North Carolina Super Lawyers since 2006.

In addition to his role on the State Bar Ethics Committee, Mr. Allen is a State Bar Councilor of the 26th Judicial District. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Defense Attorneys and held the role as President from 2009-2010. Mr. Allen is also a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel and Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel.

Mr. Allen received his juris doctor and bachelor degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
