(CHARLOTTE, N.C.)—Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP announced today that the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra (CSO) has named Mark R. Bernstein, Retired Of Counsel in the Firm’s Charlotte office, the recipient of the 2011 Sally Ann Hall Spirit of the Symphony Award. Recipients of the annual award demonstrate a commitment to the Symphony as an organization, show a profound respect for its music and musicians, and motivate and encourage others to become actively involved with the Symphony family. The award will be presented to Mr. Bernstein on November 11 at Belk Theatre.

The Sally Ann Hall Spirit of the Symphony Award was created by the CSO to honor the memory of one of its most devoted patrons, Sally Ann Hall. A member of the Charlotte Symphony Board of Directors, Sally Ann also served as President of the Oratorio Singers, working tirelessly to promote musical excellence and vitality.

"We are honored to have been able to count this man among one of our Board members for decades,” said CSO President and Executive Director Jonathan Martin. "It is impossible to overstate the impact that Mark has had not only on the Charlotte Symphony, but to the broader arts community in Charlotte.”

Mr. Bernstein currently serves on the boards of the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art and the Wildacres Foundation. He previously served as the Board Chair for the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, Foundation for the Carolinas and the UNC Press Advancement Council.

Mr. Bernstein was honored with the Greater Charlotte Cultural Trust and the Mint Museum Spirit Award in 2010 and received the North Carolina Bar Association’s H. Brent McKnight Renaissance Lawyer Award in 2009.
