Matt Norton was featured in an article on Christophe Harbour in the latest edition of the Charleston Regional Business Journal. Christophe Harbour, a 2,600-acre Caribbean resort being developed by our client, Kiawah Development Partners, will be the first-ever luxury resort in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Matt, who heads up Parker Poe’s Resort, Hospitality and Planned Development Group, is quoted several times in the article. He details his work with Kiawah Development Partners on negotiations for the deal with St. Kitts government officials. Because the existing laws of the Federation did not easily accommodate master-planned communities, Matt worked with the St. Kitts attorney general to create new legislation that not only supported the Christophe Harbour project, but can also be used for future developments.

The article, “Tourism dollars: Sweeter than sugar for developers,” details St. Kitts’ transition from a sugar industry-based to a tourism-based economy. As one of the least developed islands in the Caribbean, St. Kitts will feature Christophe Harbour as its first major resort, offering guests six private beaches spread over 13 miles of shoreline.
