Urban Land Institute Appoints Matt Norton to Recreational Development Council

Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is proud to announce that Matthew J. Norton has been appointed to the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Recreational Development Council for a term ending in 2014.

The ULI Councils are designed to bring industry leaders together to focus on specialized fields in land use and development. According to the ULI website, “ULI Council members play a critical role in building communities, developing and redeveloping neighborhoods, envisioning and recreating business districts, planning and implementing industrial parks, bringing residential, retirement, and recreational spaces to life, and designing mixed use facilities that are a part of our nation’s sustainable urban and suburban environments.” The Recreational Development Council focuses on issues related to the development of resorts, hotels and related amenities.

Mr. Norton, Parker Poe’s Resort, Hospitality & Planned Development Team Leader, maintains an international practice focusing on complex, mixed-use developments. In addition to his recent appointment, Mr. Norton is currently serving on the Executive Committee for the South Carolina Coastal Division of the Urban Land Institute.

He is also a member of the American Resort Development Association and Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association.

He received his AB, 1983 from Dartmouth College and his JD, 1991 from the University of South Carolina and while there, was the Editor in Chief of the South Carolina Law Review.
