Elvira Nuñez defends employers and educational institutions against claims of discrimination and harassment. She focuses much of her practice on helping clients respond to investigations and lawsuits involving the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the U.S. Department of Education, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). She has also assisted with internal investigations, and she has reviewed employee handbooks and university and college policies and procedures for compliance with civil rights laws.

Prior to joining Parker Poe, Elvira was a judicial intern to the Honorable Albert Diaz on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. She was also an extern with the federal public defender for the Middle District of North Carolina. In law school at Wake Forest, she was a staff member for the Wake Forest Law Review and a board member on the Moot Court.

Representative Experience

  • Defended manufacturers against EEOC charges, conducted internal investigations, interviewed witnesses, and drafted EEOC position statements.
  • Represented construction companies and manufacturers facing federal and state OSHA charges related to fall protection and other safety standards.
  • Represented colleges and universities in Title IX investigations, compliance, and litigation concerning allegations of sexual misconduct.
  • Defended companies in all aspects of state and federal litigation, as well as mediations.
