La-Deidre Matthews concentrates her practice on commercial real estate and litigation. She is part of Parker Poe’s Development Services Industry Team and represents real estate developers, investors, and other property owners on all aspects of land use and zoning. She has assisted with mixed-use, office, retail, residential, municipal, and multifamily projects. She has particular experience with deals in the Charlotte and Triangle markets.

Her commercial real estate practice includes obtaining zoning and permitting approvals from governmental bodies and representing clients with proposed zoning changes before affected communities. She has also advised local governments on economic development incentives. She is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and participates in its Charlotte and Triangle chapters.

La-Deidre is also a litigator who represents developers, corporations, and local governments. Her litigation experience includes representing cities and counties in civil suits and administrative actions and defending private-sector clients against a broad  range of tort claims, including professional negligence accusations.

La-Deidre is committed to her local community and currently serves as co-vice chair of the John S. Leary Association of Black Attorneys and as a member of the Pipeline Subcommittee for the Mecklenburg County Bar’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Prior to joining Parker Poe, La-Deidre was a postdoctoral legal fellow with the UNC-Chapel Hill Office of General Counsel. She earned her law degree and bachelor's degree from UNC, where she was president of the Education Law and Policy Society, a parliamentarian on the Student Bar Association, and a research assistant for the Youth Justice Clinic. She also externed with North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Cheri Beasley and the North Carolina Attorney General's Office.
