Maureen McDonald Zyglis defends employers against claims of discrimination in front of state and federal agencies and courts. She advises on all aspects of employment law compliance, including interpretation of the ADA, FMLA, implementation of social media policies, and assistance with contract disputes. Maureen also assists employers in internal investigations. She has significant experience handling sensitive employment issues, including claims of sexual harassment.
In addition, Maureen handles campus investigations and conducts training for colleges and universities with regard to Title IX obligations. She has experience counseling higher education institutions in the drafting, revision, and application of Title IX policies and procedures, and she has trained institutions’ employees on those procedures.
Maureen brings broad knowledge and experience in business to her law practice. Prior to pursuing her law degree and MBA, she worked as a project manager for a small, startup telecommunications company in Ohio. She then went on to work for a large international corporation in Texas focusing on customer service and human resources policy development. Her wide range of experience with people at all levels of business has allowed her to gain an understanding of the interplay between business and the law, as well as an ability to bring effective and comprehensive representation to her clients.
Prior to joining Parker Poe, Maureen engaged in a varied civil litigation practice. In addition to employment litigation, she has experience handling premises liability litigation, personal injury litigation, and construction litigation.
