(Columbia, S.C.) — The South Carolina Bar Foundation is proud to announce that Columbia attorney Sidney J. Evering II will assume the office of secretary/treasurer. As secretary/treasurer, Evering will be working with the Bar Foundation to advance justice to all South Carolina citizens through the outreach programs and services offered by the nonprofit’s 19 grant organizations.
Evering is director of diversity and senior counsel at Parker Poe Adams and Bernstein, where he focuses his practice in public finance, economic development and local government. After obtaining his BS in business administration from USC and his Juris Doctor at the USC School of Law, Evering began his career as an attorney with the South Carolina Association of Counties.
Evering is a member of the American Bar Association, South Carolina Black Lawyers Association and the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce Diversity Council and Legislative Agenda Task Force committees.
Evering has served his community as a member of Leadership South Carolina Class of 2007 and the City Year Columbia board of directors. In 2013, he was named as one of The State’s 20 under 40 and recognized by the USC Black Law Students Association with the Jonathan Jasper Wright Award, which is given to an outstanding member of the legal community. He currently serves as a member of the South Carolina State University board of trustees.
