Charlotte, NC – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Charlotte partner Jami Jackson Farris has been selected as an honoree for the 2017 Leaders in the Law awards hosted by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly. The publication describes honorees as “the most influential individuals within our state’s legal community.” Jami was selected for her leadership in practicing law and contributing to the community.

Jami assists clients with diverse business disputes involving commercial litigation, construction, automotive dealerships, professional negligence, intellectual property and other areas. She is treasurer of the National Association of Dealer Counsel’s board of directors and serves on the board for the UNC School of Law Alumni Association. She is also an experienced arbitrator and maintains an active pro bono practice, representing abused and neglected children as a Guardian ad Litem advocate and providing pro bono work for Legal Services of Southern Piedmont.

Outside of practicing law, Jami serves her community as the immediate past chair of Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, counsel to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Art Commission, and a Girl Scout leader in the Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont Council. She is also on the board of trustees for the Schiele Museum of Natural History and Planetarium and on the board of visitors for Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.

Jami is the sixth Parker Poe attorney selected as a Leaders in the Law honoree. The others are:

  • Henry Campen in 2016
  • Brian Cromwell in 2016
  • Sarah Hutchins in 2015
  • Wanda Townsend in 2014 (with previous law firm)
  • Melanie Dubis in 2011

North Carolina Lawyers Weekly assembles a panel of independent legal professionals to serve as judges for the Leaders in the Law awards. The honoree with the highest overall score from the judges will be recognized as Lawyer of the Year at the seventh annual awards banquet on Friday, September 15 in uptown Charlotte.
