Parker Poe Hires 12 Associates in 2017

Charlotte, N.C. – In 2017, Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP hired one of its largest and most diverse groups of associates in recent years. Young attorneys joined the firm’s Atlanta, Charleston, Charlotte, Columbia, and Raleigh offices. The lateral and entry-level associates are now part of a wide range of practice areas, including intellectual property, employment, and mergers and acquisitions. 

Daniel Bethea is part of Parker Poe’s Corporate practice group in Charlotte. Daniel advises clients in mergers and acquisitions, securities compliance, and general corporate matters. He is a graduate of UNC School of Law and has worked for the Health and Medicine Division of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine in Washington, D.C.

Sharad Bijanki focuses his practice in Atlanta on intellectual property, especially patent litigation and post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Sharad graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law and was previously a systems engineer and operations manager for a multinational consumer foods company.

Joshua Bonney practices in Charlotte in the areas of public finance, economic development, and local government. Joshua was selected this year for the N.C. Bar Association’s inaugural Public Service Academy. At Elon University School of Law, he served as academic chair and vice president of the Black Law Students Association. 

Catherine Clodfelter focuses her practice in Raleigh on creditors' rights and financial restructuring. Catherine was also selected this year for the N.C. Bar Association’s inaugural Public Service Academy. She graduated from UNC School of Law and earned a master's in public health from the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine at Tulane University.

Tasneem Delphry is part of the firm’s Intellectual Property team in Charlotte, representing major companies in trademark enforcement matters that include litigation, takedown notices, trademark oppositions, and settlements. Tasneem is also a graduate of UNC School of Law, and she has volunteered with the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia.

Will DesChamps practices in Charleston with a focus on commercial and construction litigation, as well as contract review and advice. Will has represented general contractors, subcontractors, insurance companies, and bond issuers in construction defect litigation. He earned his law degree from Charleston School of Law.

Andrew Lopez is part of the Banking & Capital Markets team in Charlotte. Andrew graduated from Catholic University of America’s Law School and is involved with the Mecklenburg County Bar Association and the Bruce Irons Camp Fund, which provides year-round mentoring for public school students whose families have limited financial resources.

Kate Mayes is in the Tax practice group in Charlotte. Kate previously worked as tax counsel for a health care company in Colorado. She received her master's in taxation law from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and her law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law.

DeeDee Murphy practices in Raleigh as part of the Health Care team. DeeDee earned her law degree and master’s in public health from UNC-Chapel Hill. She has worked with a variety of organizations, including an acute care hospital, a health care consulting firm, and the Health and Public Assistance Section of the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office.

Elvira Nuñez practices in the Employment & Labor group in Charlotte. Elvira defends employers and educational institutions on discrimination and harassment issues. She is a graduate of Wake Forest University School of Law and a former extern with the federal public defender for the Middle District of North Carolina.

Jennifer Paone is part of the Business Law team in Charlotte. Jennifer advises public and private entities in mergers and acquisitions, securities matters, and securities compliance. She also has experience assisting clients with general corporate matters. She graduated from Columbia Law School.

John Tamasitis practices in Columbia in the areas of commercial contracts, construction, and business disputes. Prior to practicing law, John served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law.
