Columbia, S.C. – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Amy Flanary-Smith recently graduated from Leadership South Carolina, South Carolina’s oldest and most respected leadership development program. Amy was part of a graduating class that completed more than 120 hours of instruction on critical issues facing South Carolina.
The orientation session for the nine-month program began in Columbia at the McCrady Army National Guard Training Center and subsequent sessions took place throughout the state as the group studied South Carolina’s challenges and successes in education, economic development, health, and the environment. Each program culminates with a unique class project to benefit the state.
The 2018 class chose to assist the Town of Johnston in Edgefield County with the development of a town park – by making a walking trail, renovating and upgrading a community park, and raising more than $65,000 in donations. During the past 15 years, class projects have raised nearly $500,000 for the benefit of the Palmetto State, under the direction of Executive Director Helen Munnerlyn.
Amy joins more than 2,000 leaders who have graduated from Leadership SC since 1979. At Parker Poe, Amy concentrates her practice on assisting physicians, hospitals, and researchers with contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and policy drafting. She also has extensive teaching experience in health care law, disability law, and legal writing.
