Atlanta, Ga. – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Micheal Binns has been elected as chair of the board of directors for Page Turners Make Great Learners. Micheal has served on the nonprofit’s board since last year and has been deeply involved with it since 2012.
Page Turners Make Great Learners focuses on improving literacy in inner-city Atlanta. Through programming that includes read-a-thons, book drives, and book clubs, the nonprofit motivates students to read and helps them grow up to be literate, productive, and compassionate citizens.
Micheal led Parker Poe’s partnership with Page Turners Make Great Learners on a “Read Across Atlanta” with Atlanta Public Schools last year, in which volunteers read to more than 600 students. Together with Page Turners, Parker Poe helped raise more than $8,000 to put 2,000 books in the hands of deserving students at three Atlanta Title I elementary schools. The efforts were part of Parker Poe’s firmwide Community Service Day.
“Micheal exemplifies what it means to lead with commitment and dedication with a servant's heart,” Page Turners’ President FeFe Handy says. “It truly resonates in his work with clients and the community. We are thrilled for him to lead our board.”
Micheal’s term as board chair began in December 2018 and will last until December 2020.
