Charlotte, N.C. –  Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is proud to announce that The Mecklenburg Times has named Chara O’Neale to its list of “50 Most Influential Women.” Chara is Parker Poe’s director of talent management and diversity & inclusion. She was recognized for her efforts to advance diversity and inclusion within Parker Poe, the legal profession, and the Charlotte community.

The Mecklenburg Times created the 50 Most Influential Women event to spotlight the important role women play in the greater Charlotte region, its economy, and society. The winners are nominated and judged by their peers, with an emphasis on community leadership and influence.

Chara was elevated to Parker Poe’s director of talent management and diversity & inclusion late last year after serving as director of diversity & inclusion for two years. She had also been a practicing attorney for more than a decade, largely focused on health care, but she has relinquished those duties to focus all of her time and attention on the growth of the firm’s professional development program and the expansion of firmwide diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Chara is also recognized in the broader community for her leading role in collaborating with clients and local organizations who share her commitment to giving back and giving everyone a voice at the table. She is helping to develop a pipeline for minority students interested in the legal profession through the firm’s THRIVE initiative and the Mecklenburg County Bar’s Charlotte Legal Diversity Clerkship (CLDC) program. She is also a frequent speaker on local and national panels focused on diversity and inclusion.

Chara and the other winners will be recognized at the 50 Most Influential Women awards event on April 26 in uptown Charlotte. The Mecklenburg Times will also announce the winner of its “Woman of the Year” award that night in partnership with Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Charlotte.

This is the third consecutive year a Parker Poe attorney has been recognized among the Charlotte area’s 50 Most Influential Women. Charlotte partners Ashley Edwards and Shalanna Pirtle were honored in 2018 and 2017.
