Washington, D.C. – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Steve Britt has joined the firm. Steve is an experienced corporate and technology lawyer who focuses on cybersecurity and data privacy laws and regulations.
Steve advises clients on the full range of data protection laws. He holds two IAPP certifications - Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) – which are the international gold standards for data privacy. These certifications cover the design, implementation, and management of data privacy programs for global organizations.
Steve has represented clients on the full range of federal data protection regulations involving the Department of Defense, HIPAA, and other federal agencies. He has also advised on compliance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and state data privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and New York Department of Financial Services cyber regulation. He is a frequent speaker on cyber and data privacy.
In addition, Steve has extensive experience with technology transactions. He has represented international clients from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. His deep understanding of technology, including artificial intelligence, internet of things (IOT), cloud, and facial recognition, underpins his cyber and data privacy practice.
Steve joins Parker Poe from Berenzweig Leonard LLP, a Tysons Corner, Virginia firm. Earlier in his career, he served in several federal government agencies in senior executive and legal capacities, giving him a unique understanding of the federal legislative and regulatory process.
