Profile

Jimmy Greene heads the Firm’s Tax practice group. He advises clients on the United States federal and North Carolina state tax implications of transactions. He has particular experience with federal and state tax controversies, including counseling during tax audits and representing clients in administrative and judicial appeals. In addition, Mr. Greene works with clients on joint ventures, limited liability companies and other pass-through entities. He regularly represents institutional clients and developers in real estate joint venture transactions. He also has significant experience with Section 1031 like-kind exchanges.

Mr. Greene also regularly works with the Firm’s Corporate & Securities Practice Group in the tax structuring of merger and acquisition transactions. He advises clients as to the United States international tax implications of inbound and outbound transactions.

Mr. Greene is a certified public accountant. In addition, he is a frequent speaker at seminars on limited liability companies and Section 1031 like-kind exchanges.

  • Structures and negotiates real estate development joint ventures involving shopping centers, residential condominiums and mixed-use developments
  • Advises foreign clients as to the U.S. tax implications of U.S. investments
  • Advises a U.S. software and internet client as to the tax implications of globalizing its operations and making foreign investments
  • Advises and structures deferred and reverse-deferred like-kind exchanges of real estate and corporate aircraft
