Profile

Bob Spearman has extensive experience in many areas of civil and commercial litigation. In addition, Mr. Spearman practices in areas of public law such as elections law, government procurement and conflict of interest issues. He has handled numerous complex commercial lawsuits for large public companies in North Carolina federal courts, state courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Mr. Spearman has served as a faculty member for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and has taught trial practice at the University of North Carolina Law School at Chapel Hill. He has also lectured on litigation issues at judges' conferences and bar association seminars.

Before joining the Firm, Mr. Spearman served as law clerk for the Honorable Justice Hugo Black on the United States Supreme Court from 1970-1971.

  • Serves as general counsel to a major biotechnology research facility
  • Assists clients with business torts, securities, breach of contract, antitrust, patents, pharmaceutical disputes, civil rights, personal injury, professional malpractice, government contracts and election law
  • Served as counsel for a Wake County municipality and special litigation counsel for various North Carolina local governments and state agencies
