Carson Lane helps employers navigate a range of federal and state laws. Through her litigation work, Carson has defended employers in federal cases involving Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and the Family Medical Leave Act. 

Carson advises employers on drafting employment, separation, and consulting agreements, particularly as they apply to noncompetes and other restrictive covenants, reductions in force, and compensation plans. Her work with employers also includes regular review of policies and procedures, including employee handbooks and advising as to risk in due diligence. 

In prior roles, Carson represented clients in commercial and tort litigation in state and federal courts. She interned in the North Carolina Court of Appeals with then-Judge Mark Davis, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of North Carolina, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims with Judge Margaret Bartley.

She earned her law degree from Wake Forest University, where she was a member of the editorial staff of the Wake Forest Journal of Business & Intellectual Property Law. She also logged more than 100 hours of service with the university's Pro Bono Honor Society. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina.

Outside of work, Carson enjoys traveling internationally and yoga.
