Kayla McDaniel focuses her practice on employment and labor law. She has defended a variety of public and private employers through all stages of state and federal litigation, including related to complex constitutional and discrimination claims. She collaborates with employers to create effective strategies aligned with their business objectives, develop early resolution strategies to minimize liability risks, and offer training to ensure legal compliance in employment practices.

Kayla received her law degree from Campbell University, where she was co-chair of the Capital Area Teen Court and a staff writer for the Campbell Law Observer. She received her bachelor's degree from Western Carolina University. 

Representative Experience

  • Defended public and private employers in state and federal litigation involving claims for wrongful termination, hostile work environment, retaliation, discrimination, and wage and hour violations under the FLSA, NCWHA, Title VII, REDA, ADA, ADEA, and FMLA, as well as Section 1983 and 1981 claims and constitutional rights.
  • Litigated state-court jury trials, including winning two directed verdicts in employment lawsuits. 
  • Conducted a sensitive, high-stakes internal employment investigation for a local municipal government, including witness interviews, document review, and preparation of confidential findings and recommendations.
