Marie’s practice focuses on legal issues surrounding real property. She advises clients on zoning and land use law, real property litigation, and state and local tax matters. She has experience assisting clients in navigating local and state regulations and analyzing legal issues that may affect development, including conducting due diligence and entitlement review on real estate acquisitions and guiding clients through the process of site plan review, rezoning, and obtaining permits or variances.
On the litigation side of her practice, Marie assists clients with condemnation matters, commercial lease disputes, and property tax appeals. She also assists with other various litigation matters, including torts, breaches of contract, unfair and deceptive trade practices, and other business disputes.
Before joining Parker Poe, Marie worked at the Office of University Counsel at UNC Chapel Hill, where she provided litigation support and assisted with matters involving constitutional law, business operations and transactions, health care law, employment law, administrative law, intellectual property, and regulatory matters. Marie received her J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law, where she served as the President of the Broun National Trial Team and competed on the Holderness Moot Court National Team.
