Hankins Elected as NC State Bar Vice President for 2006

Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that attorney Irvin (“Hank”) W. Hankins III was elected as the 2006 North Carolina State Bar Vice President at last week’s October meeting of the State Bar Council. Mr. Hankins will serve as the State Bar Vice President in 2006 and by normal progression as President-Elect in 2007 and President in 2008.

Mr. Hankins, a partner in the firm’s Torts, Trial and Insurance Practice Group, is General Counsel to Parker Poe and previously served as the firm’s Managing Partner from 1987 to 2002. His extensive legal career includes representation of a wide variety of clients, including public utilities, insurance companies, manufacturing companies, chemical and textile companies, accounting firms, and attorneys, before state and federal courts. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar Council and has served as Chairman of the North Carolina State Bar Ethics Committee and the Authorized Practice Committee.

Mr. Hankins is admitted to practice before the Federal District Courts in North Carolina, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America in the area of business litigation and in the Legal Elite for litigation in Business North Carolina Magazine.

Mr. Hankins received his J.D. with honors in 1975 from the University of North Carolina School of Law and his A.B. in 1968 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Mr. Hankins is Past President of the UNC Law Alumni, a member of Queens University of Charlotte Board of Trustees and a member of the NC Association of Defense Attorneys.
