Governmental Consultants To Expand Parker Poe Presence in South Carolina

Move reflects law firm’s growing commitment, presence in S.C. market

COLUMBIA, S.C. (November 7, 2005) – The law firm of Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP announced today that it has created Parker Poe Consulting, LLC. Parker Poe Consulting has acquired Columbia, SC based Governmental Consultants, a governmental relations firm, as part of a continuing effort to create a network of superior governmental relations services in the Carolinas. Parker Poe Consulting, LLC will operate under the name Governmental Consultants.

The move will provide access to a respected team of governmental affairs veterans. Dan Jones, Vicki Parker and Damon Jeter have more than 50 years of collective experience working on behalf of a broad base of clients with specific interests at the local, state and federal levels.

Governmental Consultants reflects a continuing expansion of Parker Poe’s commitment to governmental relations in the Carolinas and the Firm’s presence in the South Carolina market, Farthing said.

Prior to joining Governmental Consultants, Jones was President of The Public Policy Group LLC and Dan Jones & Company. He also served as Vice President for Laidlaw Environmental Services, managed government affairs for Duke Power Co. and held a similar position at SCANA. He has over 25 years of experience in governmental relations work in South Carolina and Washington, D.C.

Vicki Parker is a veteran of Washington politics, having served as Director of the Field Division for the Republican National Committee and as special assistant for the U.S. Department of Energy. Prior to joining Government Consultants, she was a member of The Public Policy Group and was Vice President for Government Affairs of the Greenville, SC Chamber of Commerce. She has over 20 years of experience in governmental relations work in South Carolina and Washington, D.C.

Damon Jeter is a former legislative liaison with the S.C. State Treasurer’s Office and lobbyist for the S.C. Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. He is a former member of the Board of Trustees for Richland County School District Number One and is currently an elected member of the Richland County Council. He has 5 years of experience in governmental relations work in South Carolina.
