Walters has been recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal among the 40 under 40 for 2008.  Ms. Walters, who joined Parker Poe in 1999, is Special Counsel and Director of Professional Development and Diversity.  She is a member of the Employment & Employee Benefits practice. 

In January 2006, Ms. Walters was named the first Director of Professional Development & Diversity for Parker Poe.  Since the position was created, Parker Poe has more than tripled the number of minority lawyers in the firm.  In 2007, Parker Poe piloted a program for minority law students in the Southeast providing them the opportunity to see what it is like to work in a large law firm and participate in mock law firm interviews.  Based on the success of the program, Parker Poe hosted two programs this past February drawing more than 60 minority law students. 

The Charlotte Business Journal 40 Under 40 list honors 40 individuals under the age of 40 for their professional and community achievements. The winners were recognized at a cocktail reception on June 12th.
