The law firm of Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP announced today that Jeffrey A. Poley has been recognized by the Triangle Business Journal among the 40 Under 40 Leadership Awards for 2009. Each year, the weekly business newspaper honors 40 people under the age of 40 for their community and professional achievements.
Mr. Poley’s leadership on 30 public finance transactions in the issuance or restructuring of approximately $4.3 billion of debt during calendar year 2008, and in particular, his work on pro bono borrowings for both Interact and Wake County Habitat for Humanity were specifically referenced as he accepted his award at the May 1, 2009, presentation ceremony.
Mr. Poley, a partner in the Firm’s Banking & Capital Markets Department, serves as bond, underwriters', borrowers' and bank counsel in financings for governmental entities, hospitals, continuing care retirement communities, schools, colleges and universities. Mr. Poley has also participated in drafting North Carolina statutes and statutory amendments relating to public finance. He is a frequent speaker and author on various issues regarding public finance.
Mr. Poley was named a North Carolina Super Lawyers Rising Star in Banking for 2009. In 2008, he was named as one of Business Leader magazine's Top Lawyers in Health Care and Business North Carolina magazine's "Legal Elite" young guns. A member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and the North Carolina Healthcare Financial Management Association, he is also a member of the Board of Directors for Interact, a private, non-profit, United Way agency that provides safety, support, and awareness to victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault.
Mr. Poley is a graduate of Duke University (B.A., cum laude, 1993) and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (J.D., with honors, 1996).
