Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that L. Dwight Floyd, Jr. has been appointed to the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) board of trustees.
Dwight Floyd, an alum of GSSM, is a litigation partner based in Parker Poe’s Columbia, S.C. office. He practices commercial litigation, with an emphasis on science and technology issues, and represents clients in the manufacturing, financial, technology, service and construction industries. Mr. Floyd received his JD from the University of Virginia, his MS from Colorado State University and his BS, summa cum laude, from Clemson University.
"Our Board is genuinely excited by the appointment of Mr. Floyd," said Dr. Murray Brockman, GSSM president. "Not only is he practicing law in areas critical for economic development, he is the first GSSM alum to serve on our Board."
Board members are appointed by the Governor. They meet four times annually and serve as the policy-making entity for the school. The S.C. Governor's School for Science and Mathematics in Hartsville is a public, residential high school for academically talented and motivated juniors and seniors.
