(Raleigh, N.C.)—Carolina Ballet appointed Melanie Black Dubis, a partner at Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, as chair of the Ballet’s development committee for 2010-2011. As the chair of the committee, Dubis will lead fundraising efforts for the organization.

The Carolina Ballet was launched in 1997 under the direction of artistic director Robert Weiss and serves the expanding Triangle community. Ms. Dubis has served on the Ballet’s board of directors since 2005.
At Parker Poe, Ms. Dubis handles commercial disputes for clients in North Carolina state and federal courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and arbitration proceedings. In addition, she leads the Firm’s Antitrust and Business Torts practice group.
Ms. Dubis was named among North Carolina Super Lawyers Rising Stars in Business Litigation in 2009, and Business North Carolina magazine's "Legal Elite" Young Guns in 2007. She is also a 2006 recipient of the Triangle Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 leadership award.
Ms. Dubis serves as pro bono general counsel for Alliance of AIDS Services - Carolina, and also serves on the board of Leadership America. She was named “Outstanding Volunteer Attorney” by the Wake County Volunteer Lawyers Program.
A John W. Wade Scholar at Vanderbilt University Law School, Ms. Dubis earned her JD in 1995 after earning a BA with honors from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
