(RALEIGH, N.C.)—Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP announced today that Raleigh partner Russell B. Killen has been named Chair of the Firm’s 70-lawyer Litigation Department. Mr. Killen succeeds Harvey L. Cosper, Jr., who will continue his practice as a member of the Torts, Trials & Civil Disputes Group within the Litigation Department.
In his law practice, Mr. Killen represents clients in the areas of complex construction and development related claims. Mr. Killen’s experience includes construction defect claims, delay claims, investigating and litigating building envelope, subgrade and foundation failures, as well as advising clients regarding real property and lien disputes. He has also worked with clients and industry groups to develop construction contracts that appropriately address emerging issues such as integrated project delivery methods and the use of Building Information Modeling on construction projects.
In addition to his roles at Parker Poe, Mr. Killen is currently serving his second term as the Mayor of Knightdale, NC. He also serves on the North Carolina League of Municipalities Planning & Environment Legislative Action Committee, the executive committee of Wake Education Partnership and is the immediate Past President of the Wake County Mayor’s Association.
Mr. Killen received his JD from Duke University and his BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
