The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce recently announced adjustments to its unemployment estimates for 2012. As a result, unemployment tax rates were adjusted downward for most employers starting September 22. SCDEW is mailing individual notices to South Carolina employers including the adjusted unemployment tax rates. The notices will include any current credit balances for South Carolina unemployment tax accounts.

Employers receiving such notices should immediately forward them to their payroll department or outside payroll provider to assure that accurate unemployment taxes are paid.
