(CHARLOTTE, N.C.)—Parker Poe is ranked third on BrightScope, Inc.’s annual listing of the 25 highest-rated 401k employee retirement plans among Charlotte-based companies.

BrightScope, Inc. is a financial information company that specializes in retirement plans and wealth management. To compile its rankings, the company obtains information from public sources such as the Department of Labor and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Total plan cost, employer matching contributions and the quality and variety of investment options are among the factors considered in the rankings.

This is the second year that Parker Poe has been recognized in BrightScope’s among the best 401k plans in the Charlotte area, the first being in 2010 when Brightscope ranked the Top 10 plans in the Charlotte region. Research was not conducted for a 2011 listing of area companies.

Nationally, Brightscope reviewed data on 46,000 retirement plans spanning 30 million employees to compile rankings for Charlotte and other markets across the country.
