(CHARLOTTE, N.C.)—P. Michael Juby, Jr., a Partner in Parker Poe’s Banking & Finance Department, has been selected to the Charlotte Business Journal’s 2013 “40 Under 40” list of outstanding and rising young business leaders in the region.

The winners will be honored at an awards presentation on March 28 at the McGlohon Theater at Spirit Square and profiled in a special section of the publication’s March 29 print edition.

Mr. Juby has been with Parker Poe since 2005. He represents borrowers and lenders in a variety of corporate and public finance transactions, including higher education and general governmental financings. Additionally, Mr. Juby serves on several firm committees, including the Community Service Committee and the Professional Development Committee. In 2012, he was recognized by North Carolina Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” in Bonds/Government Finance.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Juby is a true leader in the community. He serves on the North Carolina Advisory Board for Citizen Schools, on the steering committee for Hands On Charlotte’s annual Service Juris Day and on the board of directors for Piano vs. Poverty, a tax-exempt nonprofit that encourages people to use their talents to help those in need. He was instrumental in developing the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce’s young professionals council, Engage Charlotte (now the Charlotte Chamber Young Professionals), and served as the council’s chair for two years. He was also a founding member of NC State University’s Young Alumni Council and served on its executive committee for two years.

Mr. Juby served as pro-bono counsel to organizers of the Krispy Kreme Challenge, an annual event created by NC State students that has raised over $370,000 for the North Carolina Children’s Hospital. He has also volunteered more than 120 community service hours within the last two years leading mock trial apprenticeships for MLK Jr. Middle School students. Mr. Juby is teaching another apprenticeship this spring.

“I am not at all surprised that Michael received this honor,” said Tom Griffin, Managing Partner at Parker Poe. “He is influential, strong and inspires those around him – a true leader both here and in the community.”

Mr. Juby received his JD with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005 and his BS from NC State University in 2000, where he was a member of the inaugural class of Park Scholars, the university’s flagship scholarship awarded to students based on outstanding leadership, service and character.
