(RALEIGH, NC)—Melanie Black Dubis, a Partner at Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, has been named a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA), an honorary society comprised of 3,500 trial lawyers whose membership accounts for less than one-half of one percent of all American lawyers.
The purpose of the society is to recognize deserving, experienced and highly qualified lawyers, provide professional development, promote superior advocacy and ethical standards, assist in community involvement and advance a superior judiciary. Ms. Dubis is the second Parker Poe attorney to receive this distinction, joining Charles Raynal, who was named a Fellow in 2009.
Ms. Dubis handles commercial disputes for clients in North Carolina state and federal courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and arbitration proceedings. She is well known throughout the state for her ongoing work in the Leandro v. State of North Carolina case.
Ms. Dubis was recognized among the Best Lawyers in America® for 2013 and featured as one of the “10 People to Watch in 2013” by the Triangle Business Journal. She was also a nominee for the Chambers USA Women in Law Awards 2013.
In addition to her business accomplishments, Ms. Dubis is greatly involved in the local community and serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Ballet and provides pro bono services as the General Counsel to the Alliance of AIDS Services.
Ms. Dubis graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with honors in 1992 and received her JD from Vanderbilt University in 1995.
