I hope that by now you have received your invitation to the summer 2015 session of the Public Company Forum. The PCF is a semi-annual, multidisciplinary, interactive forum devoted specifically to the issues faced by public companies.

The summer session will be held on Thursday, June 18th at Queens University in Charlotte. We’ll start with coffee and breakfast at 8:15 am. The presentations will run from 9 am until noon.  There is no charge for attending.

Please click here if you did not receive your invitation, which includes a map and other useful information.

A broader vision…

Many of you were regular attendees of the previous (version 1.0) Public Company Forum, which ran for seven years and focused on capital markets, securities compliance and corporate governance issues. The PCF has now expanded to provide more comprehensive content of interest to a broader universe of public company professionals.

Topics to be Covered.  The “new” PCF covers a wide array of inter-related topics, such as risk management, financial issues, executive compensation, M&A, and internal investigation and  enforcement, in addition to capital markets, securities compliance and corporate governance.

Topics to be discussed at the upcoming summer session will include:

  • Session I: Latest Developments in Capital Markets, Compliance and Governance, presented by the Public Company Growth & Compliance Group of Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP
  • Session II:  A Merger & Acquisition Update, presented by Grant Thornton LLP
  • Session III:  Competing and Complementary Roles in Enterprise Risk Management, presented by risk management professionals from Wells Fargo Securities and Grant Thornton LLP

Who should attend? The breadth of PCF topics and the emphasis on their intersection will appeal to a wide variety of public company professionals, including:

  • legal departments
  • CFOs and other finance personnel with risk management or SEC compliance responsibilities
  • risk management officers and managers
  • strategic growth and corporate development personnel, and
  • human resource managers

Please feel free to pass this invitation along to others within your company who may be interested.

Which companies should attend? Public companies of all sizes and in all industries are invited. Attendees are expected to include companies ranging all the way from Fortune 50 to those in the midst of IPOs and covering such industries as energy, entertainment, financial services, food service, healthcare, manufacturing, retail and technology.

Interactive Environment…

A key benefit of the PCF is the opportunity to meet and interact with peers at other public companies who face similar issues. The PCF is, therefore, designed to facilitate interaction between the presenters and the audience and, perhaps more importantly, among audience members themselves. Please feel free to offer your own perspectives and solicit input from other participants. We are committed to making this a dynamic environment that encourages the open exchange of ideas and facilitates relationships.

New Location…

For the first time, we will host the PCF at Queens University’s new Levine Center, which is just off Wellesley Avenue on the western edge of campus. We’ll be in the Crown Room, which is a brand new, spacious classroom just inside the front door.

There is convenient, complementary parking in the deck just a few feet down the sidewalk.

Continuing education credit…

CLE and CPE applications have been submitted. Attendees are expected to receive at least 2.5 hours of credit (or 5 hours if you attend both semi-annual sessions).

RSVP soon…

Please RSVP by June 1st by emailing RSVP@parkerpoe.com so we can plan accordingly.

I hope to see you there.
