Visa Services Interruption

    Client Alerts
  • June 22, 2015

The Department of State’s (DOS) Bureau of Consular Affairs has advised that it continues to experience technical problems with its visa systems. This issue is not specific to any particular country or visa category. The DOS is working urgently to correct the problem and restore full operability.

The DOS is currently unable to print most immigrant and nonimmigrant visas approved after June 8, 2015. In addition, U.S. embassies and consulates are unable to process new applications submitted on or after June 9, 2015.

Individuals who submitted their DS-160 online applications prior to June 9, 2015 should plan to attend their scheduled visa interview appointments. Individuals who submitted their DS-160 online applications on or after June 9, 2015 and have scheduled visa interview appointments may be required to reschedule their appointments. Appointments can be rescheduled by signing into the existing appointment account and selecting the “reschedule” link or by calling the call center.

All visa applicants should note that the issuance of visas (post-interview) may be delayed. Those applicants who cannot remain abroad for an extended period of time should consider waiting until the systems operations are restored before leaving the United States.

We will continue to provide updates as soon as we have additional information.
