Parker Poe Provides Legal Services for Haier Expansion in Kershaw County

$72 million investment, adding 410 new jobs

  • September 30, 2015
Haier America is working with economic development professionals and attorneys from Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP on the Chinese appliance maker’s expansion of its historic manufacturing plant in Kershaw County, South Carolina.

Haier is adding 410 new jobs and investing $72 million to add new equipment and tooling and, in addition, is adding another 250,000 square feet to the existing 365,000 square-foot facility.  This facility became the first manufacturing operation established by a Chinese company in America when it went into production in the year 2000 at the site at 50 Haier Boulevard in Camden, South Carolina.

“This visionary multi-national manufacturing leader in the consumer appliance industry continues to see the value of doing business here in the Southeast U.S.  Working with Haier to help them pave the way for this dramatic build-up of its production footprint in Kershaw County, South Carolina, has been a privilege and a pleasure,” says Sam Moses, a Partner with Parker Poe and Co-Chair of the firm’s Business Incentives & Investment Group.
