Raleigh, NC – Kevin Chignell, Managing Partner of Parker Poe’s Raleigh office, recently presented a check to Dr. David Shockley, President of Surry Community College, to help the school provide scholarships for students who are interested in enrolling in the school’s truck driver training program. The endowment, which was funded by the Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA), is intended to recognize and support those institutions helping to shape the future of the trucking industry. In addition to providing truck driver training, Surry Community college has partnered with the North Carolina Trucking Association to develop a two year associate’s degree program to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in trucking industry operations.
With a membership of more than 1,600 trucking professionals, TIDA was founded in 1993 as a national organization committed to engaging in actions and activities that reduce loss costs to the trucking industry. Members include motor carriers, transportation logistics companies, insurers of motor carriers, third party claims administrators and defense counsel.
Kevin Chignell is a litigator focusing his practice on product liability cases, industrial accident litigation, and trucking and transportation defense. He has handled matters in state and federal courts for over 20 years and is well versed in the representation of companies and insurers in claim-related litigation and regulatory matters.
