Charleston, SC – Attorneys from Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, led by Charleston partner Paul VanWagenen, are advising Blackbaud, Inc. on its development of a new corporate campus on Daniel Island. Blackbaud also engaged Holder Properties to develop the campus under a long term build-to-suit lease.

Holder’s landlord entity for the project took title to the property on September 8 and expects to break ground in October on the 172,000 square-foot facility to be constructed as the first phase of the campus in the Daniel Island Town Center. Blackbaud and Holder expect the first phase to be ready for occupancy in 2018.

Blackbaud is the world’s leading cloud software company powering social good. It expects to add 300 jobs to its home office, which will be housed in a state-of-the-art, eco-friendly building that features innovative ideation and collaboration space, fitness center and game rooms, and a cafeteria with locally sourced food. The campus also will include hiking trails and Camp Blackbaud, an employee-led STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program that teaches elementary school children how to design and code.

“This generational investment will further cement our commitment to the Lowcountry and the Palmetto State. Our nearly 30 years here have been marked by growth and progress and we’re excited to be taking this next step, and we appreciate the help of seasoned partners like the attorneys from Parker Poe for helping us secure just the right site for us to make this happen,” said Jon Olson, senior vice president, general counsel for Blackbaud.

“It’s been a privilege to work with Blackbaud, Daniel Island, the City of Charleston, Holder Properties, JLL and all of the other parties involved to take this significant step towards making Blackbaud’s vision a reality. This campus will be a wonderful place to work and will be an asset to Daniel Island and the whole Charleston area. I’m sure I’m not the only who’ll be finding reasons to visit the campus on a regular basis,” said Paul VanWagenen.
