Charlotte, NC— Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP, a business law firm known for its corporate, litigation, environmental, tax, real estate, lending and public policy practices, held its sixth and final session of their internal “Mini-MBA” business education program, the innovative yearlong series for its more than 200 attorneys, paralegals and senior administration. This month’s program featured Mark Beese, President of Leadership for Lawyers, LLC.
Beese has more than 25 years experience in the field as a chief marketing officer for professional services firms. Leadership for Lawyers, LLC is a consultant group focused on helping lawyers and other professionals to improve their leadership and development skills. In this capacity, Beese provides training and coaching for law firms of all sizes for marketing and business and leadership development. Mark received his B.S. and M.B.A. (cum laude) from the University of Buffalo.
Beese led more than 100 participants of the Parker Poe “Mini-MBA” program through a discussion on how to shape effective leadership in today’s law firms. Beese discussed different factors such as size and market that contribute to a leadership strategy, and addressed the qualitites of being a leader and topics including leadership vision, collaboration, innovation, and having a growth mindset. Beese shared with the attendees, “To change behavior you must change the culture.” He guided the audience through imperative leadership competencies for directing and sustaining success in law firms to effectively compete in today’s ever-changing market.
The “Mini-MBA” program at Parker Poe kicked off in April with an interactive session led by Tim Corcoran on the economics of law and business development. The yearlong program has included guest lectures and group dialogue which are streamed live across Parker Poe’s seven offices throughout the Southeast to educate attorneys and senior administration on best practices for business. The presentation by Beese marks the final session of this year.
“Business leadership is crucial to everything we do here at Parker Poe, so it was a fitting conclusion to our “Mini-MBA” program to have this session help us develop our leadership qualities and skills to contribute to our vision to provide unparalled client service,” said Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer Kristen Leis. “Through this program, our attorneys have been able to supplement their legal knowledge with additional business skills, allowing them to better serve the firm and our clients.”
