In the ACC Docket, Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer Kristen Leis co-authored an article about how Parker Poe and in-house legal departments are maximizing value by increasing efficiencies.

"This new reality creates significant opportunities to improve your bottom line, deepen business relationships, improve legal outcomes, and — above all — put the client first," wrote Kristen and Christine Juhasz, the leader of corporate legal operations at MassMutual. "We can say this with confidence because we are already seeing the results of rolling out efficiency initiatives in-house at MassMutual and at law firm Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP."

Kristen and Christine describe how their organizations are taking process improvement and project management tools that have been used successfully in the manufacturing industry for decades, and they are adapting them to the legal field. The article discusses how Parker Poe teamed up with clients and the Legal Lean Sigma Institute over the summer to host a two-day course on the concepts of lean, six sigma, and project management. It also details a variety of practical takeaways for in-house legal departments and law firms.
