Columbia, S.C. – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that David Summer and Sam Moses were selected by their peers as the top attorney in their practice areas. The voting was part of the process in determining Columbia Business Monthly’s 2018 “Legal Elite of the Midlands.” David received the region’s top votes for health care law for the second straight year, while Sam received the most votes for international law.

Walt Cartin, Simpson Fant, Claire Hall, Todd Haynie, Ray Jones, and Will Thomas were also voted among the Legal Elite in their fields. That brings the total number of Parker Poe attorneys honored in Columbia to eight.

Legal Elite is the only awards program in the Midlands that gives every active attorney in the region a chance to participate. The winners are drawn from a pool of peer-nominated candidates and, according to Columbia Business Monthly, are “regarded as the best and most well-respected attorneys in their fields.”

David Summer, who received the most votes in health care law, has three decades of experience as a trusted adviser to hospitals and providers throughout the country. Two other Parker Poe attorneys were also honored in health care: Will Thomas and Walt Cartin. Will leads the firm’s Health Care Industry Team and represents a variety of health care clients in litigation, regulatory, and transactional matters. Walt also represents a diverse range of health care providers, providing counsel on general corporate operations, transactions, and litigation.

Sam Moses, who received the most votes in international law, co-chairs Parker Poe’s Manufacturing & Distribution Team, which includes the firm’s economic development practice. Claire Hall was also named Legal Elite in international law. She’s part of the firm’s Manufacturing & Distribution Team and assists clients with business and expansion projects across the United States.

Two Parker Poe attorneys were recognized for banking and finance: Todd Haynie and Ray Jones. Todd focuses his transactional work in commercial lending, real estate, and corporate law. Ray provides advice and counsel to a broad spectrum of clients in matters relating to public finance, local taxation, financing of affordable housing, and economic development.

In addition, Simpson Fant was voted among the Legal Elite for commercial real estate. Simpson has represented owners and developers in the development, financing, and refinancing of more than 170 multifamily housing, assisted-living, and nursing home projects throughout the Southeast.
