As previously reported in EmployNews, a federal court in Washington reversed an attempt by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to rescind regulations requiring certain employers to submit pay data broken down by workforce demographics as part of their annual EEO-1 submissions. The court then ordered the EEOC to collect such pay data for 2017 and 2018 no later than September 30, 2019.
Last month, the EEOC informed the district court that it anticipates opening its electronic filing portal for such pay data by July 15. The EEOC plans on contacting affected employers by mail to provide log-in information. If the employer fails to submit the information, the EEOC will send periodic reminders about the September 30 deadline. The agency also plans on staffing a help line for employers with questions about providing the pay data.
