Raleigh, N.C. – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Nana Asante-Smith has been chosen as a 2020 recipient of the Duke Alumni Association’s Beyond Duke Service and Leadership Award.
The Duke Alumni Association received hundreds of nominations from alumni around the world, as well as from Duke faculty and staff. The president of Duke University says Nana “stood out for having demonstrated exemplary leadership and a sustained record of service” to her community.
Nana is deeply involved in the North Carolina community. She was appointed late last year to the North Carolina Judicial Council, which monitors the administration of justice and effectiveness of the state's judicial branch in serving the public. She is also president of the N.C. Association of Black Lawyers, a member of the North Carolina State Bar’s Grievance Committee, and a member of the Durham Mayor’s Council for Women. She is a past board member of the Durham Crisis Response Center.
Nana graduated from Duke University in 2012 and has served as a volunteer admissions interviewer since 2016.
At Parker Poe, Nana focuses her practice on complex civil litigation, including breach of contract, unfair trade practice and securities cases, and government and internal investigations.
