Atlanta, Ga. – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that the Daily Report has named Charles Pursley a “Georgia Trailblazer.”
The Daily Report is the premier source for legal news in metro Atlanta and the state of Georgia. It honored Charles and other trailblazers for making “significant marks on the practice, policy and technological advancements in their sector.” Charles was recognized for his impact on eminent domain in Georgia.
For more than 40 years, Charles oversaw and represented MARTA in its condemnation work to establish and expand the Atlanta area’s rail system. He has also litigated more than 90 cases before the Georgia Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, establishing many precedents in eminent domain that are still relied upon today.
In addition, Charles is the original author of what is considered the textbook on eminent domain in Georgia: Georgia Eminent Domain, which The Harrison Company first published in 1982. He has counseled Georgia lawmakers on amendments to eminent domain statutes relating to condemnation for economic development. The Eminent Domain Section of the State Bar of Georgia awarded him its inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award, an award that now is given in his name each year.
Charles and the other trailblazers were recognized in a special edition of the Daily Report.
