Tyler Smith chaired a panel at the National Association of Bond Lawyers' Workshop, which was held virtually this year. His panel focused on the phaseout of LIBOR, the interest rate that has served as a global benchmark for nearly half a century.
Tyler and the panelists provided perspective on emerging issues with LIBOR, including the evolution of uses of LIBOR language suggested by groups such as the Alternative Reference Rates Committee (ARRC) as well as the status of the Secured Overnight Financing Rate (SOFR) as a viable substitute index.
The NABL's virtual Workshop brought together public finance lawyers from around the country. Tyler is chairing a committee the NABL has formed to work through the legal and practical implications of the transition from LIBOR to a new benchmark.
