Walt Cartin was quoted in Mergers & Acquisitions magazine on the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on deals in the health care industry.
"Even if we have a vaccine, the coronavirus is still going to be an issue that’s out there, so people are settling in and realizing if they’re going to move forward with their business, they’ve got to deal with this risk," Walt said.
He also explained how the pandemic has led to some creative terms in deal contracts for skilled nursing facilities and other health care businesses. He said a common refrain before the pandemic when one party tried to insert an unusual term was: “Well, that’s not market,”
“That is going out the window," Walt said. "Now it’s more about people getting creative with structuring solutions that manage and mitigate risk on both sides of the transaction.”
