Atlanta, Ga. – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that the firm represented the Black American Music Association in its joint venture to launch the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta, which inducted its first class this summer.

The Walk of Fame is located near Mercedes-Benz Stadium and includes 12 bronze plaques honoring James Brown, Otis Redding, Quincy D. Jones, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Sean Love Combs, Shirley Caesar, Kirk Franklin, Missy Elliott, Outkast, Beyoncé, and Usher Raymond IV. The organization plans to honor additional Black entertainers with new plaques each year.

Parker Poe has represented both the Black American Music Association and the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame. In addition to general business counseling, the firm advised the organizations on zoning and permitting to establish the Walk of Fame and helped them secure trademarks and other intellectual property.

“As Chairman and Co-Founder of the Black American Music Association, I am proud that we are being represented by Parker Poe,” Michael Mauldin said. “With legal guidance and advice from our designated senior team of attorneys – including Anthony Fox in Charlotte and Ellen Smith in Atlanta – we have been able to secure expedited positive results, while at the same time being proactive and creative in our approach.”

The team at Parker Poe advising the organizations also includes Raleigh partner Will Cannon, Raleigh associate Sloan Carpenter, and Atlanta associated professional Jahnee Prince.

“We are proud to support the Black American Music Association in its mission to preserve, protect, and promote Black music – both its legacy and its future,” said Parker Poe partner Anthony Fox. “We were also thrilled to take part in the Walk of Fame’s inaugural induction ceremony. We are excited to play our part in, as the Black American Music Association puts it, moving forward the vast legacy of Black musicians.”
